Pretty Little Wife
by Darby Kane

This will be the first mini review featured on my blog because living with an almost three-month-old means that I can’t spend my whole day writing full-length reviews like I used to be able to do.

“Some women in town once cornered her [and told her] how lucky she was to have a husband like Aaron. As if playing the role of pretty little wife were a gift and not a life sentence of boredom.”

Book: Pretty Little Wife by Darby Kane

Rating: 5 amazing stars!

I went into this book completely blind and had no idea what to expect, but let me tell you, it is EVERYTHING that I hope for in a domestic thriller!  It is gripping, addictive and FULL of so many shocking surprises.

Pretty Little Wife by Darby Kane has an absolutely fascinating premise: a woman has committed the perfect crime in killing her husband, but there’s one big problem—his body isn’t where she left it (WHAT!?).

I had no idea where this book was going or how everything was connected—a missing body, a true crime podcast, missing students, a relentless detective, and an extremely nosy neighbour—but I loved it.  The plot was amazing, the characters were unique and unlikeable in a likeable way (does that make sense?).  I mean, Lila was clever, but also shockingly ice cold—I really loved her demeanour.  The book was filled with twists, turns and surprises that kept me guessing right until the end. And THAT ending!  That ending was NOT AT ALLL what I was expecting. But let me tell you, I loved it!

If you’re looking for an addictive read and a fun take on a domestic revenge thriller, then this is definitely the book for you!

Debut author Darby Kane thrills with this twisty domestic suspense novel that asks one central question: shouldn’t a dead husband stay dead?

Lila Ridgefield lives in an idyllic college town, but not everything is what it seems. Lila isn’t what she seems. A student vanished months ago. Now, Lila’s husband, Aaron, is also missing. At first these cases are treated as horrible coincidences until it’s discovered the student is really the third of three unexplained disappearances over the last few years. The police are desperate to find the connection, if there even is one. Little do they know they might be stumbling over only part of the truth….

With the small town in an uproar, everyone is worried about the whereabouts of their beloved high school teacher. Everyone except Lila, his wife. She’s definitely confused about her missing husband but only because she was the last person to see his body, and now it’s gone.

If you’re looking for an addictive read and a fun take on a domestic revenge thriller, then this is definitely the book for you!
