The Last Widow
by Karin Slaughter

WOW! What can I say!? Other than the fact that Karin Slaughter has done it, yet again!

The Last Widow is the 9th book in the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter, and although you can read it as a stand-alone (because Slaughter is a master at storytelling and developing her characters for each book), I definitely recommend reading the first 8 books before this one. Reading the rest of the series will enable you to really understand why Will Trent and Sara Linton are the way that they are, and why they are such a driving force for each other.

A mysterious kidnapping.  A devastating explosion.  A diabolical enemy.

On a hot summer night, a scientist from the Centers for Disease Control is grabbed by unknown assailants in a shopping center parking lot.  The authorities are desperate to save the doctor who’s been vanished into thin air.

One month later, the serenity of a sunny Sunday afternoon is shattered by the boom of a ground-shaking blastfollowed by another seconds later.  One of Atlanta’s busiest and most important neighbourhood’s has been bombedthe location of Emory University, two major hospitals, an FBI field office, and the CDC.

Medical examiner Sara Linton and her partner, Will Trent, an investigator with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, rush to the sceneand into the heart of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to destroy thousands of innocent lives.  When the assailants abduct Sara, Will goes undercover to save her and prevent a massacreputting his own life on the line for the woman and country that he loves.

To end, I would just like to say that I highly recommend this book, this series, and absolutely anything and everything that Karin Slaughter writes!
